NASA Director Swears In on Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" Instead of Bible, Setting a New Precedent.
TL;DR
Newly-appointed NASA officer Makenzie Lystrup took an unconventional oath on a copy of Carl Sagan's book 'Pale Blue Dot' instead of the Bible. The book is inspired by the famous Pale Blue Dot photograph of Earth taken by the Voyager 1 space probe in 1990. Dr Lystrup is now the director of Goddard Space Flight Center, responsible for the oversight and execution of a $4bn portfolio and leading a team of scientists, engineers, and technologists focused on Earth and space science.
