NASA satellite crashes in Sahara Desert.

A decommissioned NASA satellite, the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS), re-entered Earth's atmosphere and fell to the ground over the Sahara Desert. The satellite, which was launched in 1991 to study the Earth's atmosphere, had been decommissioned in 2005 and had since been orbiting the Earth as space debris. NASA had been monitoring the satellite's descent and had predicted that it would fall somewhere over the Pacific Ocean, but it ended up re-entering over Africa instead.
