NASA Successfully Delivers Asteroid Sample After Seven-Year Journey

NASA's spacecraft OSIRIS-REx is set to deliver a package from the near-Earth asteroid Bennu to Utah's West Desert after a seven-year journey. The package is a large space capsule containing a sample container filled with regolith from the asteroid's surface. On September 24, the capsule will be released 63,000 miles from Earth and is expected to touch down in Utah at speeds of about 11 mph. The sample, the largest asteroid sample ever brought back to Earth, will be studied by scientific teams worldwide to gain insights into the origins of life and the formation of our planet.
