Rocket Lab Partners with NASA to Launch Climate Satellites

Rocket Lab has been awarded a launch contract by NASA to deploy two small satellites as part of the PREFIRE mission, which aims to gather data on far-infrared energy emissions at the Earth's poles. Equipped with thermal IR spectrometers, the satellites will collect data on how these emissions change throughout the day and year, providing insights into the impact of climate change on polar ice shelves. The launches are scheduled for May 2024 and will take place from Rocket Lab's launch site in New Zealand. This is the 7th and 8th launch contract Rocket Lab has received from NASA since 2018.
