"Surprising Flow Acceleration and Boundary Layer Generation Uncovered in Study"

Aerospace engineers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign conducted an experiment on turbulent boundary layers and observed the formation of a new internal boundary layer in response to acceleration in the flow. This internal layer significantly altered the behavior of the flow and was only observed under certain pressure gradients.
