Asteroid Impact Risk Higher Than Previously Believed, Warns Scientists.

A top NASA scientist has warned that the threat of a massive asteroid striking Earth is much more fearsome than previously thought. James Garvin, chief scientist of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, presented new research at Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in the Woodlands, Texas, which suggests that previous impact sites actually stretched tens of kilometers further than believed and each event of impact was substantially more violent as well. The impact of previous asteroids on Earth may have been much more massive than previously thought. However, more fieldwork needs to be done before jumping to conclusions about the space rocks and what could come of planet Earth.
