A new NASA-funded study suggests that larger asteroids are more likely to hit Earth than previously believed, based on satellite data. The study examined the impact craters of three asteroids using high-resolution data from Earth-observing satellites, which showed the rings were larger than previously recorded. While the findings are not yet definitive, if proven true, it would mean more asteroid defenses need to be prioritized to help mitigate any damage to our cities and communities.
