NASA Mars Rover Adopts 'Dwayne' the Pet Rock
TL;DR
NASA's Perseverance Mars rover has picked up a new "pet rock" named Dwayne in one of its wheels, a nod to actor and wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The rover, which has been exploring Mars since 2021, often collects rocks in its wheels, which are harmless and eventually fall out. This latest rock companion adds a touch of whimsy to the rover's mission of seeking signs of ancient life and collecting samples.
