TL;DR

NASA's Perseverance rover has logged more than 26.2 miles (42.2 km) on Mars since its 2021 landing, making it the second rover to complete a Martian marathon after Opportunity. The feat highlights the rover's long-distance mobility and informs future crewed Mars missions, though a human trek of 26.2 miles on the Red Planet would be far tougher due to extreme cold, a thin CO2 atmosphere, and the weight of spacesuits, even with Mars's lower gravity.
