"James Webb Telescope: Detecting Earth-like Planets and Signs of Civilization"

A team of researchers, including NASA and Jet Propulsion Lab scientists, conducted a study using high-resolution spectra data to determine if the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) would be able to detect an Earth-like exoplanet with signs of industrial activity. The study found that even with obscured and lower-resolution data, the JWST should still be able to identify molecules indicating the presence of an extraterrestrial civilization similar to ours, up to a distance of 50 light-years. However, the study acknowledges that it is only the beginning and further research is needed to identify other forms of possible alien civilizations.
