Black Hole Jet Strikes Mysterious Object in Deep Space
TL;DR
Astronomers using NASA's Chandra X-ray telescope have observed a massive jet from the supermassive black hole in the galaxy Centaurus A colliding with an unknown object, creating a unique V-shaped X-ray emission. This discovery, located 12 million light-years away, reveals new insights into the behavior of black hole jets, which are formed by high-energy particles accelerated by magnetic fields around black holes. The exact nature of the object impacted by the jet remains unknown due to its distance.
