Chandrayaan-3 Mission: Spacecraft Successfully Enters 100 km Circular Orbit

The Chandrayaan-3 mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is set to enter a 100 km circular orbit around the Moon after another manoeuvre on August 16. The spacecraft, consisting of the lander Vikram and the rover Pragyan, is scheduled to attempt a soft landing on the lunar surface on August 23. Chandrayaan-3 aims to demonstrate safe landing and roving capabilities on the Moon and includes new technologies for inter-planetary missions. ISRO chief S Somanath expressed confidence in the mission's success, stating that even in the event of sensor or engine failure, the lander will still achieve a proper touchdown.
