Ingenuity Helicopter Continues to Soar in NASA's Mars Race

NASA's Perseverance rover and Ingenuity helicopter are racing up the river delta in Jezero crater on Mars to explore new and exciting geological features. Ingenuity is acting as a science scout, flying ahead of the rover to provide recon images for scientists to determine exploration priorities. However, communication challenges and a narrow keepout zone around the rover make it difficult for Ingenuity to pass the rover if it falls behind. Despite these challenges, the helicopter team has set a new record for flight frequency and speed, allowing Ingenuity to stay ahead of the rover and arrive at Abercastell with a two-sol lead.
