Martian rock clings to Curiosity for six days before release

A roughly 29-pound Mars rock nicknamed Atacama became stuck to NASA's Curiosity rover during drilling on April 25, delaying sampling for six days. Engineers tried vibrating the drill and reorienting the arm with no success, and it wasn't until May 1 that Curiosity freed the rock by tilting, rotating and applying more vibrations, allowing the mission to resume.
