"NASA Expands Spacesuit Selection for Artemis Missions to Moon and ISS"

NASA has issued a $10 million task order to Axiom Aerospace and Collins Aerospace to double its options for new spacesuits for future Artemis astronauts and International Space Station (ISS) crews. Axiom will redesign its moon suit to be compatible with ISS operations, while Collins will modify its suit design for lunar surface operations. The task orders aim to spur competition and provide a backup plan for NASA. Once the designs are reviewed and assessed, the chosen suit will undergo extensive safety testing and a test flight demonstration. The selected spacesuit will be used through 2034, with follow-up task orders for modifications as needed.
