The James Webb Space Telescope has captured a never-before-seen glimpse of the heart of the Milky Way galaxy, revealing new features and mysteries that could provide insights into the early universe. Using its ability to view the universe in infrared light, the telescope captured details of Sagittarius C, an active region of star formation located near the galaxy's central supermassive black hole. The image shows a cluster of protostars, including a massive protostar at the center, as well as ionized hydrogen emissions and structures resembling needles.
