"Global Economy's China-Proofing Strategy: Deepening Reform and Opening-Up"

The United States needs to adopt a new approach to its economic strategy with China, accepting that the Xi regime will not change. Instead of trying to change China, the US should actively manage the economic relationship in ways that advance specific US interests and respond to evolving geopolitical demands. This includes reducing reliance on China in major supply chains, ensuring the West maintains its edge in sensitive technologies, and using tariffs and other tools to promote specific US strategic interests. The US should also pursue targeted trade deals in sectors where interests converge, develop a new approach to Internet governance, and form a critical technologies club to support the development and regulate the export of key technologies to China.
