Daily Vinegar Beverage May Improve Mild Constipation, New Study Finds
A four-week randomized trial in Japan with 44 adults showed that a daily vinegar beverage (750 mg acetic acid per 200 ml) increased defecation frequency by about 1.2 per week vs placebo in people with mild constipation, suggesting vinegar could help bowel movements; however, experts say results are preliminary, and evidence-based constipation strategies (fiber, hydration, physical activity, pelvic floor therapy) remain primary and vinegar should be consumed cautiously due to acidity.
