USAF Weighs C-17 Production Restart in Next-Gen Airlift Strategy
The U.S. Air Force is evaluating the feasibility of restarting C-17 production as part of its Next-Generation Airlift (NGAL) program. Air Mobility Command leader Lt. Gen. Daniel Tulley confirmed that all options, including a production restart or service life extension, are under review. This assessment follows a congressional mandate for a briefing by March 2027 and comes amid high demand for existing airlift and tanker fleets due to ongoing conflicts.
