Missouri floods force airlift of 200 campers from waterlogged summer camp
Heavy rains sparked flash floods in southeast Missouri, stranding more than 200 campers and staff at Camp Taum Sauk. The Missouri National Guard used Black Hawk helicopters to airlift them to safety at a nearby elementary school, while other evacuees were rescued from a collapsed campground building. Gov. Kehoe declared a state of emergency as more rain was forecast, and rescue teams continued work with no major injuries reported.
