Astrophotographer Creates Stunning Gigapixel Moon Image from 280,000 Photos

Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy has captured a 1.3-gigapixel highly-detailed image of the Moon made from 280,000 photos, which he calls the "GigaMoon". McCarthy used an 11-inch telescope with a 2.5x powermate to capture the image. He captured about 2,000 images at a time and shot the entire Moon twice to cover for any bad panels.
