iFixit Scores Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 at 4/10 for Repairability Despite Minor Battery Improvements

iFixit rated the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 at 4/10 for repairability. While the Series 12 added a pull tab for easier battery removal, both models still require prying off glued displays, a major obstacle. The Ultra 4 saw no repairability changes, while the Series 12 improved by one point from its predecessor. In contrast, Google’s Pixel Watch 5 scored 9/10 due to screw-based access and no adhesive.

Watch Showdown: Series 12 vs Ultra 4—Value, Size, and Battery in Focus

The guide compares Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4, noting they share the S11 chip, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, and a Health Sensing System with Readiness, Recovery HRV, and Sleep Score, so the Ultra 4’s higher price mainly buys durability and endurance. The Series 12 starts at $399 (titanium at $699, ceramic at $899, with Ultra at $799 baseline), while Ultra 4 emphasizes rugged construction, longer battery life, satellite communications, dual‑frequency GPS, greater water resistance for diving, and outdoor‑ready modes. Size and materials are significant trade‑offs: Ultra 4 is bulkier; Series 12 is lighter and more discreet with refined finishes. For most users, the Series 12 offers the same essential health features at a better value, while the Ultra 4 suits long outings and more demanding activities; try it on if you’re considering the larger, feature‑rich option. ”
