In Kiryat Shmona, a northern Israeli border town near Lebanon, residents have spent two weeks living in a public bomb shelter as Hezbollah rockets escalate hostilities; many had evacuated in 2023 and were later told to return, only to seek safety underground again, with about 18 people sharing two bare rooms that offer minimal amenities beyond air conditioning and a city-provided fridge.
