Quarantine on Congo River boat as Ebola fears rise
Congolese authorities quarantined the Yingfeng 2, a Chinese-operated boat, after a feverish passenger died and several others followed, intercepting the vessel about 65km from Kinshasa. Health teams are screening all 255 passengers for Ebola and cholera with a mobile lab; no positives have been reported yet, even as the Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak in DR Congo continues with thousands of cases and deaths and no vaccine yet, though trials are under way. The boat has traveled over 1,700km toward Kinshasa and is being held to prevent potential spread while authorities bolster monitoring.
