That's No Moon, founded by ex-Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward veterans with $100M in funding from Smilegate, has announced its debut—an immersive, single-player action-adventure built around the Crossfire IP. The game emphasizes a dynamic Adaptive Cover system, real-time terrain use, and lethal, tactical combat set in the Atlas Mountains, following Layla on a survival mission with a wary ally. That’s No Moon’s Crossfire aims to fuse a grounded, military narrative with a highly realistic, adaptive cover system in a new third-person shooter. With influences from Spec Ops: The Line and prestige war films, the game focuses on two conflicted protagonists and emotional storytelling over pure action, while offering a mil-sim–lite experience designed to be more accessible. Its ambitious blend of difficulty and narrative depth could make Crossfire a divisive but potentially transformative entry for single-player, character-driven shooters.

At Summer Game Fest, That’s No Moon unveiled Crossfire, a third-person narrative shooter built in Unreal 5 whose standout feature is an adaptive, all-environment cover system that lets players hide behind natural terrain and move fluidly during firefights, not rely on chest-high walls. The game aims for a grassroots marketing approach and is positioned as its own IP, distinct from Remedy's CrossfireX; it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with a launch window still to be announced.
