
Ukraine pivots to Gulf partners to shore up defense amid stalled European support
With EU aid blocked and talks with the US and Russia stalled, Kyiv is courting Gulf states (Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait) and even the US for security partnerships, offering Ukraine’s expertise in countering Iranian Shahed drones in return for military and financial backing. Kyiv highlights a growing Middle East interest and the potential to leverage Ukraine’s booming drone industry (including FPV drones) to bolster defense, all while contending with a looming €90 billion loan shortfall and the need for broader international support.
