Epsilon Perseids Shine Under Dark New-Moon Skies Tonight
The September Epsilon Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight (Sept. 9–10) as a near-new moon yields exceptionally dark skies, boosting visibility for shooting stars. The shower runs through Sept. 21, with the maximum around 11 p.m.–4 a.m. local time and up to about five meteors per hour, best seen from the northern hemisphere; binoculars or a small telescope can enhance the view.
