General Motors (GM) has signed a deal with Australian-based supplier Element 25 to expand manganese sulfate production in the US, a key EV battery component. Indiana lands $3.5B battery plant, creating 1700 jobs.

General Motors will build its EV battery complex with Samsung SDI on about 650 acres of agricultural land in St. Joseph County, Indiana, in a $3.5 billion project that will employ more than 1,600 people. The plant will help supply cells for millions of all-electric cars across North America. The plant would generate an annual economic impact of $652 million once it’s fully operational.
