WebXR Tool Lets Users Test Meta VR Glasses' Narrow Field of View on Quest 3

A new WebXR application allows users to experience the limited field of view of Meta's upcoming VR Glasses before purchasing. The tool, created by Duuro Plays, runs on the Quest 3 and toggles between the headset's full 119-degree diagonal view and the VR Glasses' reported 88-degree diagonal view. This comparison highlights the significant reduction in immersion despite the VR Glasses' high-resolution micro-OLED displays and lightweight 100-gram design. The device is priced at $1,299 and is scheduled for release in Spring 2027.

Viture Luma Series XR Glasses: The Next Step in AR Technology

The Viture Beast AR glasses, launching in October at $549, feature the best screen quality seen on AR glasses with a 1200p display and customizable screens, but lack hardware myopia adjustment and have a slightly narrower 58-degree field of view compared to earlier reports. Meta's AR Glasses Face Setbacks and Downgraded Specs, Delaying Release to 2027

Meta's first consumer-facing AR glasses, codenamed Artemis, will reportedly not feature the high-end displays originally planned. Instead, they will use older glass lenses and Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) display technology. The glasses may have a limited field of view of 50 degrees, compared to the originally planned 70 degrees. Meta is also downgrading other components, such as removing the lidar sensor from the wireless puck that accompanies the device. The company is scaling back on its ill-received Quest Pro headset and focusing on its line of cheaper Quest headsets.
