Wild capuchins in Costa Rica master an AI touchscreen for banana rewards
Researchers in a Costa Rica forest deployed CapuchinAI—a battery-powered AI touchscreen platform that recognizes individual capuchins (97% accuracy) and delivers banana rewards to a monkey when it touches the screen; 16 wild capuchins used it, with some even kissing the screen, enabling scalable, field-based cognitive tests across domains like learning, impulse control, cognitive flexibility and memory and exploring individual differences.
