Samsung Wins FDA Clearance for Galaxy Buds Hearing Health, Rivaling AirPods
Samsung announced that its Galaxy Buds have been cleared by the U.S. FDA to provide over-the-counter hearing-aid functionality in the United States, joining Apple in offering clinically graded hearing support. The feature uses a five-minute self-administered hearing test and an audiogram to tailor amplification in the Galaxy Buds3 Pro and Buds4 Pro, with noise reduction and beamforming to focus on sounds in front. Samsung collaborated with the National Acoustic Laboratories and Samsung Medical Center, and a Galaxy smartphone with One UI 8+ is required; the hearing-health features are slated to roll out in Q4 2026, after Apple’s earlier introduction of similar capabilities (Apple had a two-year head start).
