Samsung launches the Galaxy Store Benefits rewards program in the US, awarding virtual Gems for using the Galaxy Store which can be redeemed for coupons or digital gift cards. The program runs daily-to-monthly sweepstakes, including a Monthly Mega Sweepstakes that could award a Galaxy S26 Ultra, with additional hardware discounts and trade-in incentives to boost Galaxy Store engagement.
Samsung inadvertently confirmed the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 by listing a browser app named after them on the Galaxy Store, hinting at upcoming foldable devices with new features and significant design changes, including a thinner form factor for the Z Fold 7.
Samsung's upcoming One UI 7 will no longer support downloading Edge Panels from the Galaxy Store, affecting both free and paid versions. Users can retain existing Panels if they don't uninstall them after updating. The Edge Panel feature itself remains, but this move may signal a gradual phase-out. Devices on One UI 6.1.1 or earlier will still have access to the Edge Panels Galaxy Store.
Samsung has announced a termination schedule for Galaxy Store services for Tizen smartwatches, starting with the cessation of paid app purchases on September 30, 2024, and ending with the complete halt of all downloads by September 30, 2025. This move does not affect Samsung's newer Wear OS-based smartwatches.
