Hikers Uncover Hidden Cache: 598 Gold Coins Hidden in a Can in Czech Forest
Two hikers in the Krkonoše Mountains discovered a small aluminum can containing 598 gold coins dating from 1808–1915, plus an iron box with gold items, totaling about 15 pounds and valued at around $330,000. The coins come from multiple European countries, suggesting a collected stash built over time. The find is being studied by the Museum of Eastern Bohemia, which will display it; the hikers receive a 10% reward.
