Japan grapples with ADHD drug shortage as demand surges

Concerta, an ADHD medication from Janssen, has been in nationwide short supply in Japan since last fall, with clinics unable to prescribe it to new patients and restricting long‑time patients to about two weeks’ worth. Janssen previously said stock would be resolved in about two months, but shortages persist and full restoration is expected to take many more months. Concerta is one of only three ADHD drugs approved for adults in Japan, a concern as the adult ADHD population grows.

"NANOBIOTIX Partners for Global Development and Commercialization of Groundbreaking Radioenhancer NBTXR3"

Nanobiotix has announced a global licensing, co-development, and commercialization agreement with Janssen Pharmaceutica for the investigational radioenhancer NBTXR3, which is being evaluated in several studies for the treatment of solid tumors. Under the agreement, Nanobiotix will grant Janssen a worldwide license for the development and commercialization of NBTXR3, with Nanobiotix receiving near-term cash and operational support valued up to $60 million. Nanobiotix will maintain operational control of ongoing studies and NBTXR3 manufacture, while Janssen will be responsible for an initial Phase 2 study for lung cancer. Nanobiotix is eligible for success-based payments of up to $1.8 billion, as well as royalties on net sales of NBTXR3.

FDA Releases Latest Updates on March 14, 2023.

The FDA has revised the Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine Fact Sheet to include warnings about increased risks of myocarditis, pericarditis, and facial paralysis following vaccination. The scope of authorization for a booster dose has also been revised. The FDA has approved Daybue as the first treatment for Rett syndrome in adults and children. There are now 444 COVID-19 tests and sample collection devices authorized by the FDA under emergency use authorizations.
