Russia Bolsters Naval Presence in Black Sea with 2 Kaliber Carriers
Russia has increased the number of combat-ready warships in the Black Sea to 11, including two missile ships equipped with a total of 12 Kalibr-type cruise missiles. The increase in warships comes as tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate, with both sides suffering naval hits. Russia has been using its Black Sea Fleet to launch missile attacks on various areas in Ukraine, and the UK Ministry of Defense believes that Russia sees land attack cruise missiles as a key capability to disrupt Ukrainian counter-offensives and as having an important role in any hypothetical conflict with NATO.
