Mixed Signals: Debating the Possibility of a Recession in the US
Despite a robust jobs market, talk of a recession continues due to high inflation and interest rates, as well as leading economic indicators that suggest a recession may be on the horizon. While the consumer spending is still strong, there are cracks in the firewall, such as higher delinquencies in the credit card market and on auto loans in the sub-prime credit space. The Great Recession had a more pronounced launch, with institutional failures in the financial sector, while things are much murkier today.
