Jurors weigh 63 charges in Los Gatos mom’s teen party scandal

A Santa Clara County jury is deliberating 63 charges against Shannon O’Connor, a 51-year-old Los Gatos woman accused of masterminding booze-filled teen parties that allegedly led to sexual assaults by minors. The case includes 20 felony counts for child endangerment and aiding sexual assault and 43 misdemeanor counts for furnishing alcohol to minors; O’Connor did not testify. Prosecutors say she fostered a “cool mom” image to boost her son’s status, while she contends she’s been scapegoated. If convicted on key counts, she faces more than 30 years in prison and potential sex-offender registration.
