Orphaned macaque Punch celebrates first birthday with 2,500 cards
Punch, a young Japanese macaque abandoned by his mother, was raised at Ichikawa City Zoo with help from an orangutan plushie to aid his grip. After initial rejection from other monkeys, his endearing story and charm drew global attention. On his first birthday, he received about 2,500 cards from around the world, with the messages and a video recounting his early days on display at the zoo.
