The CW Network is undergoing significant layoffs, with around 35 employees affected, particularly in the scripted PR department. This move follows Nexstar Media's acquisition of a 75% stake in the network and is part of a strategy to shift focus from high-end scripted dramas to sports and unscripted programming, aiming for profitability by 2025. The layoffs coincide with a leadership change, as Dennis Miller steps down and Brad Schwartz takes over as President of Entertainment. Nexstar reported a 22% increase in ad sales and a reduction in operating losses and programming costs.
