Disgaea creator Sohei Niikawa says physical game editions are valuable keepsakes fans can keep, sign, and display at events, even though Sony plans to move toward a disc-free future. He notes publishers may still ship boxed versions with download codes, and jokes that if discs go away, so might the hardware itself. Niikawa’s own Demons’ Night Fever will have a physical release later this year.
Nippon Ichi Software has announced "Bar Stella Abyss," a roguelike strategy RPG for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Set to release on February 29, 2024, in Japan, the game follows the protagonist who explores a dungeon in a changing otherworld while strengthening their party with the power of constellations. Players can engage in turn-based strategy RPG battles, customize characters with the power of constellations, and enjoy conversation and exploration through the power of alcohol. The game will feature various regular patrons, cocktails with hidden effects, and a first-print bonus of a digital mini soundtrack.
