Jerusalem attack on French nun leads to trial for Israeli settler
An Israeli settler from Peduel, 36-year-old Yona Simcha Schreiber, will stand trial for assault resulting in injuries after kicking a French Catholic nun in Jerusalem, with prosecutors citing hostility toward a religious group. Detained since April 29, he is accused of attacking the nun near Mount Zion, as surveillance showed him pushing and kicking her. The French consulate, Hebrew University, and Israel’s foreign ministry condemned the incident and stressed religious freedom and protection of Christian communities.
