The Department of War announced the death of two active-duty Soldiers supporting Operation Inherent Resolve: 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Texas, who were killed in action July 17–18, 2026 during an attack at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, Jordan; the incident is under investigation.
The U.S. Army identified Sgt. Devin A. Seibel, 26, who died May 31 at Erbil Air Base in Iraq during a training-related incident while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve; a British soldier, Lance Corporal James Freeman, also died in the same incident, which is under investigation.
Three U.S. Army Reserve soldiers, Sgt. William Rivers, Spc. Kennedy Sanders, and Spc. Breonna Moffett, were killed in a drone attack by Iran-backed militants at a base in Jordan near the Syrian border. The soldiers were supporting Operation Inherent Resolve and are the first U.S. troops killed by enemy fire in the Middle East since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. The soldiers' deaths have left an indelible mark on the United States Army Reserve, and condolences poured in from their communities.
