Bipartisan push to strip data centers of federal tax breaks gains momentum
House Democrats introduced legislation on September 16 to block data centers from accessing federal tax incentives, specifically bonus depreciation and Opportunity Zone benefits. Simultaneously, Senator Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) announced plans to introduce a bill excluding data centers from Opportunity Zones, marking a rare bipartisan effort to restrict these incentives despite previous Republican support for the program.
