Star Catcher Prepares First Orbital Laser Power Transfer Test
Star Catcher is launching a prototype satellite named Protostar on a SpaceX Transporter-18 mission to test beaming solar energy via laser to an untethered CubeSat. If successful, this will be the first time energy is transmitted between two separate spacecraft in orbit. The company aims to build an orbital power grid to support future space data centers and satellites, having secured significant funding and contracts.
