Possible Earth-like Moon Discovered Orbiting Earth

A newly-discovered natural satellite, 2023 FW13, has been found orbiting Earth. It is a "quasi-moon" due to its specific orbital characteristics. The space rock was discovered using the Pan-STARRS telescope in Hawaii and is estimated to be about 15 meters across. Its elliptical orbit brings it halfway to Mars and halfway to Venus, but it takes almost exactly the same time as Earth to make a trip around the sun.

Earth has a new quasi-moon, a space rock called 2023 FW13, which has been in Earth's vicinity since 100 BC and will keep circling our planet for at least another 1,500 years, until AD 3700. Discovered by experts using the Pan-STARRS telescope in Hawaii, it is one of a handful of known quasi-moons and is gravitationally bound by the sun. Neither 2023 FW13 nor a similar quasi-moon called 469219 Kamoʻoalewa are thought to pose any danger to people on Earth.
