Knight family endows Oregon with first women’s health hospital with $1.1B gift
Philanthropists Phil and Penny Knight will donate $1.1 billion to Providence to fund Oregon’s first hospital focused on women’s health at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland, with the gift also supporting the Providence Heart Institute and expanded cardiovascular services. The funds will cover diagnostic imaging, clinical trials, and recruitment of leading doctors, complementing the Knights’ prior $200 million giving to the institute. Described as a generational investment, the donation aims to reshape healthcare in Oregon for decades.
