Outer Worlds PS5 Upgrade Fiasco Forces DLC-Only Path
Obsidian has apologized for a confusing promo around a free PS5 upgrade for base The Outer Worlds owners. Due to unforeseen platform limitations and entitlement rules, the free upgrade cannot be offered going forward; Xbox One/PS4 digital owners will need to own the base game plus both DLCs (or the Expansion Pass) to be eligible for the Spacer's Choice Edition upgrade. Players who bought the base game before May 27 may contact support for remediation, but many feel misled as messaging changed after the initial announcement. The DLCs were briefly delisted and later relisted, complicating upgrade eligibility, and Obsidian has issued a further statement acknowledging the frustration.
