Trent Williams signed a two-year, $50 million extension ($48.5M guaranteed) with a structure including void years to spread a $56.27M signing bonus over five years, plus potential 2027- and 2028-related guarantees and roster bonuses. Post-draft, the 49ers hold the NFL's top cap space (about $71.27M in cap space; effective space ~ $67.8M), but they'll be in the red in 2027 and only mildly solvent in 2028, making rollover space critical to their long-term balance sheet rather than a big free-agent splurge next year.
San Francisco signed a two-year, $50 million extension for Trent Williams through 2027, making him the first non-quarterback to surpass $400 million in career earnings. The deal cements Williams as a perpetual threat to Seattle’s defense given his elite play at left tackle, and even as he ages toward 39, he remains among the league’s best, ensuring the 49ers’ line dominance and continuing headaches for the Seahawks.
The San Francisco 49ers reworked left tackle Trent Williams’s contract, signing him to a two-year, $50 million deal with $37 million guaranteed and a $22 million signing bonus, ending a standoff. Trent Williams agreed to a two-year, $50 million extension with the San Francisco 49ers, including $37 million guaranteed and a $22 million signing bonus, locking in the Pro Bowl tackle through 2028, avoiding another holdout, and pushing his career earnings beyond $300 million as San Francisco buys time to plan for life after him.

The 49ers did not exercise a $10 million option bonus for Trent Williams, raising his 2025 cap hit from about $38 million to over $47 million. With negotiations stalled, San Francisco intends to rework Williams’s contract and keep him through the April draft, though the terms could change if no agreement is reached.
The 49ers reportedly signed veteran wide receiver Mike Evans to a three-year, about $60 million deal designed to be cap-friendly, giving Brock Purdy a big, reliable target and red-zone threat. Evans stressed the move was about a new challenge rather than money, while San Francisco continues offseason shaping by addressing Trent Williams’ contract status and adding depth at tackle with OL Vederian Lowe, among other strategic moves.
