Border Sweep Nabs 95 Illicit Truck Drivers in Yuma Smuggling Case
A multi-agency operation in Arizona’s Yuma Sector arrested 95 illegal alien truck drivers with state-issued CDLs (76 from California, 6 from New York, others) between Aug. 10–14, part of ongoing narcotics and human-smuggling efforts at the southern border; 143 suspects from 18 countries were detained and authorities seized 74 pounds of meth and 169 pounds of marijuana. The event coincides with DOT plans to tighten CDL eligibility by restricting nonimmigrant visa holders and disallowing EADs, while border encounters have fallen since 2024 but smuggling persists.
