
Fisherman Rescued After 15 Days Trapped in Mexican Cenote
A 31-year-old fisherman, Erasto Crisanto Valdez, was rescued after spending 15 days trapped deep inside a cenote in San Francisco La Paz, Mexico. He survived by drinking rainwater and finding an air chamber, and was located Aug. 7 more than 100 meters below the cave surface; a large, multi-agency operation helped locate him and he was hospitalized for dehydration as authorities praised the joint rescue effort.
